How long have you been in business?
I made my first cake in November of 2010
If you have a store front or location that clients visit… where is it?
Unfortunately not yet, but hopefully by next year i’ll have my own shop!
How many weddings to you do per year?
Right now I’m averaging 15 cakes per wedding season (two a weekend for the most part)
What is your businesses “mission statement”?
To provide each and every couple with a unique, custom wedding cake. I would never let a cake that I wasn’t completely happy with leave my kitchen.
What is your favourite thing about what you do?
My favourite thing about making cakes is to totally use my imagination when creating custom wedding cake. I love meeting with the couples and figuring out their unique styles, and delivering something that is better than they imagined.
What is something neat and/or surprising about about what you do behind the scenes?
Some people think I use an edible printer in some of my designs, but I do everything by hand. I love hand painting and I think it adds a really unique touch to the cake. I also make everything completely from scratch, and almost everything on my cakes are completely edible.
What has been your favourite Wedding to date and why?
My favourite wedding to date has been one I did last December that was for a friend of mine, and I actualy got to see her reaction and got a picture with her as well. It’s nice to see all your hard work being appreciated, and to be a part of someones special day like that.
What are you most excited about for this Wedding season?
I have some really gorgeous cakes coming up this summer! I am very excited to start on them and see them transform from a sketch to a cake. Included is a huge 5 tiered cake in July, one of my biggest to date!
Your best advice to your couples getting married in the planning process?
My best advice to couples is to sit down together and decide what kind f cake you’d like for your big day. If you don’t know what style you like, no problem! I love coming up with designs based on the couples theme and colours as well. Another good thing to talk about before meeting with your cake designer is the budget that you have for your cake, it’ll really effect what kind f deign you can get. Then you can schedule a tasting and consultation to decide on the perfect design for you!
What set’s you apart from all your fellow vendors? What is unique to you?
I think what sets me apart from the other vendors in the city is that although im relatively new, I have made well over 300 cakes in my career and this is absolutely my passion. I put my heart into every cake I make, whether it’s a little 6” round of a 5 tiered wedding cake. I absolutely love what I do, and for me it’s all about the details. I put a lot of time into my cakes and I believe that it shows.
What’s your funniest story (that you can share)?
Before making cakes, I was in school planning on being a dentist. So now instead of filling cavities, I create them!
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself or your business to share?
I would like to share that I definitely owe a lot to my mom! She would always make us fancy birthday cakes when we were little, and was constantly baking. She has very good taste and is very artistic and I get everything I have from her!
