Welcome visitors! After two months into the new year, I finally have a collection of my favourite moments from 2015 ready for you! All of my favourites? Not even close. Only a couple chosen from each wedding or engagement session;)
First of all, I’m lucky. Yes…I do work my ass off while consciously pursuing luck, but still, I’m lucky. I’m lucky to be doing something I love for a living, surrounded by family who support me, friends who are there for me, and clients who believe in what I do. If my calculations are correct…it has now been 10 years to the month since I was sitting with Amanda, before we even moved from Calgary to Winnipeg and I said, “I think I want to be a photographer.” Everyone else thought I was nuts! But Amanda's encouragement and support is what brought me here. Thanks babe!
So… 2015…what went down? 30 wonderful weddings and 20 super fun engagement sessions. That’s a lot of kick-ass couples, hundreds of bridal party peeps, lots of parents and family, sunshine, rain, snow, wind, tears, laughter, long-ass wedding days, mosquitoes, sun burns and some kissing.
For my personal development, I had the privilege to attend the Chrisman Workshop and learn from Ben & Erin Chrisman early in the year. That was amazing! I also held my very own workshop (Get Dirty) for the first time and that was an experience I will never forget and rewarding on so many levels. Moore Photography also grew by one photographer…Sunny. Big thanks to her and my amazing team of second shooters, especially Rhiannon who has been shooting and editing for me for 4 years now. I’m so pumped to see what 2016 has in store for all of us! Oh yes...AND...I switched my camera system from Canon to Nikon, no big deal. ;)
Last year included some travel that brought me all over the Manitoba prairies and other destinations I have been dreaming of, like Niagra Falls and Ireland. All of this hard work and travel would mean nothing if it wasn’t for the amazing couples that have put their trust in me. Each time I walk out the door to shoot, there is something new, exciting, unique and beautiful I get to witness. THANK YOU to all my brides and grooms!
I was also honoured to get some great awards last year! Awards can be a bit weird but from a marketing perspective, they're great. It's a bonus that I can advertise certain awards to stand out to couples looking for a wedding photographer. On a personal level, they can be helpful to push you harder or they can be hurtful by making you stagnant and not push yourself anymore. Personally, I tend to look at them as helpful, and they keep me working harder…not for accolades but to push myself to grow as a photographer and to keep trying to get new, exciting and even better photos. Well known organizations like Fearless Photographers, ISPWP and the PWPC do just that for me and as one of my mentors Erika Mann (Two Mann Studios) has said, “It's not a contest…it’s a movement. They have changed the definition of what it means to be a wedding photographer”. I agree! Last year I got one fearless award, one “Best Wedding Story” for fearless, two ISPWP awards and after a year of PWPC placings, I won 4th in Canada overall. One that just about blew my mind was making the list of Top 100 Wedding Photographers in US and Canada with SLR lounge. I feel so honoured and more driven than ever before!
Well, I think that’s enough babbling to cover a year of life! I’ll let the photos below tell the rest of the story. Thanks again to all of my clients, friends and family. I’m so excited to see you all sometime this year! Enjoy:) C
Thank you for visiting!
