Winnipeg 4-Day Hindu Wedding

Day One: Mehndi Celebration

The festivities kicked off with a joint Mehndi celebration at the bride’s home. For those unfamiliar, a Mehndi celebration is a traditional Hindu pre-wedding event where intricate henna designs are applied to the bride and guests. The night was filled with laughter, music, and dancing as everyone got their Henna did and danced the night away.

Day Two: Sangeet & Jago

Day two was an absolute banger with their Sangeet & Jago celebration at Clay Oven inside the baseball field. A Sangeet is a musical night where family and friends perform dances, while a Jago involves a lively procession and singing to wake up the neighborhood, signaling the upcoming wedding. The energy was electric, and the joy was palpable.

Day Three: Vatna & Choora Ceremonies

On day three, we captured the Vatna ceremonies separately. This ceremony involves applying yellow turmeric paste to the couple for good fortune and a bright, healthy skin glow for their wedding day. Following this, Anjali had her Choora ceremony, where she was adorned with traditional red and white bangles, marking the closing of the pre-wedding rituals.

The Final and Big Day: Wedding and Reception

The grand finale was the Hindu ceremony at St. Anne’s Hindu Temple, followed by the reception party at the ballroom at Fort Garry Place. This was a long and warm 17-hour day, and what an epic adventure it was! The day started with getting ready moments, followed by Amit’s Barat parade where he rode a horse to the temple to negotiate his way inside to marry his bride in front of the fire. The ceremony was beautiful, filled with sacred rituals and vows.

After the ceremony, we captured some creative portraits in their wedding attire. We took a little break for a cold shower and a change of clothes, then headed to the reception to party the night away. The dance floor was on fire, and it was an unforgettable celebration of love and joy.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, Anjali & Amit! Your wedding was truly an epic Winnipeg 4-Day Hindu Wedding, and I’m grateful to have been part of it.
