As an inclusive and welcoming LGBTQ+ wedding photographer, I want my clients to know that ALL are welcome here, no matter their sexual orientation, upbringing, or religion. Being an LGBTQ+ friendly photographer means more than simply saying it or writing on my website that I’m an ally. It means understanding and celebrating the unique love stories of each couple I work with.

Inclusivity in Language and Practice

In terms of the phrase “same-sex weddings,” it’s important to note that even this term is not fully inclusive. If you are non-binary, trans, queer, dating someone who doesn’t fit into a category, or don’t feel you personally fit into a category, then “same-sex wedding” may not feel right for you. However, for legal and practical reasons, the term is sometimes used. Here in Canada, same-sex marriage has been legal since 2005, ensuring that love is recognized and celebrated equally under the law.

For instance, one of my most cherished experiences was photographing one of my best friends, Daina, when he married his person, Kirk, in 2019. My partner Julie and I traveled to Toronto and spent the most wonderful time capturing their beautiful story. Their wedding was a celebration of love, acceptance, and joy, and it was an honour to be part of it.
