JEWISH Weddings

I adore all weddings, but there’s something uniquely special about those filled with rich culture and tradition. Ceremonies steeped in Jewish customs, in particular, hold a special place in my heart. I have had the privilege of photographing a wide variety of cultural weddings, but the Sunday Jewish celebration is probably the most common for me here in Winnipeg.
A Decade of Photography
Over the past 15 years, I have had the honour of photographing more than 30 Jewish ceremonies. Each one has been a unique experience, showcasing the beautiful traditions and customs that make these events so extraordinary. From the solemn moments in synagogues to the lively celebrations in bars, like the unforgettable wedding of HEATHER AND JORDAN, and everything in between, I’ve captured it all.

One of my favourite aspects of these weddings is how they bring families together. There’s a palpable sense of unity and joy that permeates every event. The traditional customs, from the signing of the Ketubah to the breaking of the glass, and the exuberant Horah dance, create a vibrant and emotional tapestry that tells a beautiful story of love and heritage.

At nearly every celebration I photograph, I see familiar faces – past brides and grooms whose special days I’ve had the honour of capturing. It’s incredibly heartwarming to see how these couples have grown and to continue to be part of their extended family celebrations.
